Nah, if we ignored the Old Testament, we would not live in this country right now under the relative peace and freedom we have. Our laws are built on the Old Testament laws. They had the first free capitolistic society. We just utilized a lot of what they had before and added a little to it and took some away.

I have come to the conclusion...using my vast credentials...that BrianC suffers from just about every personality disorder in the DSMIV as well as psychotic tendencies. I believe that he has a very high IQ...which probably accounts for his nutjobness. His wife sounds like she is a loon as well by the simple fact that she married this psycho Brian. I am not sure how the hell a person with a PhD in neuro-cognitive studies has any more knowledge on this discussion than anybody that has taken a high school science class and understands the scientific method. You dont need a fancy degree to be able to understand science and know what makes sense and what doesnt.
I am not a Christian, but I dont hold it against people that are...most of the posters in this thread that call themselves Christians are pretty normal people otherwise. They have their own personal relationship with God and live a normal life and try to be the best person that they can be...there is nothing wrong with living like this.

He believes God's salvation is irresistable, and so anyone whom is offered it will accepted it with their will. He thinks free-will pretty much doesn't exist. This means that God could save everyone, and yet chooses not to. Philly claims this is to show God's glory. I think that's just sick, prideful and drives people away from wanting to know God.

Most Christians believe that we have free-will in life and in regard to salvation. They believe that is one of the main purposes of life: to choose where we will go when we die. God does His absolute best, within the guidelines/rules He set up in the beginning, to convince us all to choose Him. Philly believes God wants glory, but can't really explain the need for God to have glory. Where as other Christians believe God needs to be glorified through their actions so that other people will see their actions and say, "If knowing God produces that, I want what they've got, so I better get to know God" which produces people wanting to choose salvation. God's wanting the glory has purpose for most Christians, but not for Calvinists. For Calvinists, they must just think God has a big ego, I suppose.

Many people hear a Calvinist say that God chooses, we don't, and the person hearing this thinks they must not be chosen since they don't know God yet. That makes them very angry, especially Atheists. That turns people away from God. That's why I like to make Philly and his doctrine look completely ridiculous in here... so people won't pay any attention to his beliefs. I don't like when people get mislead.
I think yer both Completely and ebarassingly full of crap and need to stop pushing your belief structures on everyone else through "discussion and debate"! Live your life out of a book. Does'nt matter whos right or wrong. When you die, if you magically float up to the clouds to sit beside an invisible man that noone can see... GREAT!!!! CONGRATS!!!! ive lost interest in your judgemental demeaning manor. I bet you're the type that could tell a guy hes an asshole using big sophisticated words and he doesnt realize it for days. Live your life and be happy but leave us "ignorant people" be!

Faith is absolute truth in the since that when faith is applied, truth will follow. Honestly bro, NO ONE gets it till they live it. And it will never gonna make since till you make the decision to make it a part of your life.

I hate to make such a lame example, but how do you know fire is hot? I guess faith till you experience the heat? Momma said don't touch the stove. Did you? And what did you learn?

In a since, Christianity is somewhat like this. I know..."But I cant see God or feel his presents. Cant hear him or walk with him down the street." My answer to you is, yes you can. If you truly seek him, all these things will be a daily part of your life.

Did you read the verse where it says that if a non-Christian is married to a Christian, because they are made "one", the Christian sanctifies the non-Christian? In other words, if an atheist marries a Christian, the Atheist is going to heaven with his/her Christian spouse. Interesting, no? So it would appear that even atheists can get into heaven through God's lovely little loopholes, which means when given the choice, even Atheists will choose God when standing in front of Him. Pretty cool, eh?
Yes. Marriage is a covenant bond where 2 become 1.

I have not read the entire thread yet, but I just want to say that this would be totally awesome. I really like cheese. Giant cheese anything can only be good, I would tend to assume. So when you say monster, do you mean he is mean and scary, with rotten cheese or spikes on it so we can't eat any of it, and that he goes around pouring millions of gallons of melted cheese on good people, drowning them? Or, is he a monster like Godzilla was in the movies where he protected Japan from evil monsters, or like Harry in Harry and the Hendersons, or Puff the Magic Dragon? Because if God was a cheese monster, that's how I would picture him. I bet he would share his cheese with everyone. Or at least those who worship him. And boy, would I!

Okay, I made it through page 1, and I doubt I will read any further.

But I will say this...

Isn't BrianC the one who claimed that he was exercising asthma demons over the internet?

If he's on your side...

Does this only apply only while they are married, or is the atheist "grandfathered in" after the divorce?
